The bridge between nature and industry...

Project 2 of my Honours in Architectural studies. Self sustainability and sustainable environments are extremely important in this generation. The rate of unemployment continues to rise as jobs become difficult to find. Alongside the environmental responsibility to design a building with a low carbon impact and minimal waste, the project is also situated in one of the natural valleys of Port Elizabeth. Therefore the site conditions are not flat.

However it forms part of the gateway to the valley from the urban and industrial connections of the area. Therefore the project is situated in an important part of the valley that leads to many opportunities.

The project also challenges the traditional way of farming. Through the use of parametric architecture many variables are used to solve the issues of technology and site.
