THE VALLEY HOTEL AND LIFESTYLE CENTRE
The design of a Hotel, life rights centre and housing as part of a collaboration with the Nelson Mandela University Investment CO. Project 1 of Yr 4 Located on an under-utilised cricket field the design revolves around sculpting the landscape so that it cascades towards a central valley.
This valley system contains the majority of recreational and leisure facilities for the guests and residents. The contemporary uniform design of the buildings in the complex compliment the carved landscape by utilizing green undulating roofs that are given the illusion of being flat. In addition, to this, the complex is abundant in courtyards and paths that promote inter-generational social interactions.

The driving force of this collaborative team project, as it emphasises that the holistic approach to the design is necessary to a successful project. From program, context, technology and sustainability, the project covered all corners of possible design issues.
